I love to try new things out and I’ve been having more of a go at that. I want to spend a bit of time though going through the things I’ve already made recently and fine tune if you like. I might start with some new (near) pastels.

I much prefer the VR headset 2, the robot needs working on if its to be developed and the woman in the car isnt quite what I was looking for but it still holds some charm if I’m honest.

I’m interested in this idea of old style painting made quite clearly contemporary, and the modern technology in the image might not be the way to get it but it certainly gets the point across. I think I’ll look more into this and perhaps do it the other way around too, so take perhaps one of my minimalist urban landscapes and place a Victorian in the scene?

I said experimentation didnt I. The completely different things I’ve been looking at are quite varied, from images with the same colour palette but complete different styles and subject matter.

Along with a few images of cats and food. It is instagram after all. The image of the woman is fascinating in that she’s looking straight at the viewer, I always find that compelling, the rain streaming is how you might usually think of it, the fact thats its all a bit dark suggests the emotion is not that of joy and happiness. The butterfly images though suggest more of an emergence of something brighter. I was looking for this in particular in the purple/violet image. As if the sun is just breaking through the darkness and radiating the delicate wings of the butterfly. This is also an area to think about.

I also did the images of cats and food. The cat images as just a bit of fun but I was surprised at how much they made me smile. the foods are all made in a particular arrangement and I think worth a look at to see if they might gain some commercial traction. I’ll probably list them for sale as a novelty item an see where it goes. I say list them for sale and see, this is market research essentially. The thing I do know about markets, it seem particularly acute on etsy, is that people will buy items that arent much like everyone elses. Things that stand out of the crowd are always going to do well which if why I want to try them.
